Studio Diary: Current Works

The studio is full of half-finished faces right now — six panels in various states of glazing, each waiting its turn under the north light.

I've been working slower than usual this season, letting each layer of paint fully cure before adding the next. It's tempting to rush toward a finished image, but the paintings that hold up best are the ones built patiently, glaze over glaze, until the color has real depth.
